What to Include on Your Board Meeting Agenda

An agenda for a board meeting is an agenda that outlines the things to be discussed, resolved and ratified during your next meeting. The creation of a well-organized agenda for board meetings requires a deep understanding of your organization’s needs and the preferences of the members. It’s a document that must be created in collaboration with the goal of ensuring the highest quality of information, engagement, and effectiveness.

The secretary of the board should read the minutes of the meeting before calling the meeting to call it to order. This lets everyone know where they stand in relation to previous decisions and discussions, and enables them to dive into new topics faster.

This section of the agenda will include important information from the most important players in the room on a broad variety of subjects. Based on the structure of your managing and controlling companies business this section could include reports by the executive director, the finance director, or even the committee on program. This is also the place where board members can ask questions that arise from these presentations or other news relevant to the topic.

In the end, this is where your board can leave time for any new issues or business they’d like raise. This is a great time to announce special announcements, send congratulations messages or shout outs. Your facilitator at the meeting will announce the date for the next meeting.
